April Wrap Up

Hello, my lovelies!

Another month just flew by and this time I read a record amount of books. Usually I read between 5 and 7 books and in a more busier month about 4 books, but this time I managed to read 11 books. I guess being quarantined and participating in the OWLs Magical Readathon helped a lot. So here is my list:

  • Theresa Talbot “The Quite Ones”. I gave it ♥♥♥ and already wrote I review. You can find it here if you want to read more of my thoughts.
  • Edgar Allan Poe “Varnas ir kiti eilerasciai”. I gave it ♥♥♥. It´s short poems collection that I read for OWls Arithmancy prompt. I had to read something outside my favourite genre and poetry is definitely one of the things I read least. But I enjoyed this one.
  • Raven Snow “One Last Spell”. This tinny book was for OWLs History of Magic prompt. It was mediocre even though I usually love books about witches. But this one looked childish. I gave it ♥♥♥
  • Jenny Oliver “The Summerhouse by the Sea”. This one was my choice for Defence Against Dark Arts prompt. I had to read a book that is set at the sea/coast. I chose to listen to this on audiobook and was very pleasantly surprised. It was so easy to read, reminded me a lot of my own life, made me rethink a lot of things about myself and even though it´s suppose to be a fluffy romance book it made an impact on my personal life. So of course I gave it ♥♥♥♥♥
  • Madeline Freeman “Crystal Magic” another young adult book about witches and this one was just in the middle for my taste. I won´t be continuing with this series. I gave it ♥♥♥
  • Caitlin Crews “Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy” was for Ancient Runes prompt, where I had to read a book with a heart on a cover or a word “heart” in the title. I wasn´t huge fan of this book and also wrote a review for it. You can find it here. I gave it ♥♥
  • Adrienne Woods “Firebolt” was a book for my last prompt of OWLs – Transfiguration. For this prompt I had to read a book that included shapeshifting. And I enjoyed it immensely. Already have next two books in this series. Usually I´m not attracted to books with dragons, but this one was just great. I gave it ♥♥♥♥
  • Lucinda Riley “Midnight Rose”. Another audiobook I chose to listen this month. The first part of this book was a little bit slow for my taste, but the second part was amazing and in the end I gave it ♥♥♥♥
  • Olivia Lara “Someday in Paris” one of the worst books I read so far this year. My review for this book will be up on my blog on 27th of my. I gave it only ♥.
  • Anna Premoli “Accidentally in Love” was on my kindle over few years and I finally decided to read it. And it was OK nothing special or very memorable about this one. I gave it ♥♥♥
  • J.K.Rowling “Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone”. I knew, that at some point I will want to reread my Harry Potter books once again. And it was a perfect time to do it. I chose to listen all of the series on audio this time and it is just pure perfection. Of course I gave it ♥♥♥♥♥.

How was your reading month? How many books have you read this time?

February Wrap Up

Hello, my lovelies!

How are you? I hope you all doing well! As for me, I´m fine, just have a cold, but that´s give me an excuse to read more. Also I have more free days now, so in February I managed to read 7 books, which is a lot to me, because I´m not a fast reader.

Let´s start from the beginning. First one, that I read was “Wild, Wild Rake” by Janna MacGregor. This was my review copy, that I got from publishers via NetGalley. There is already a review in my previous post, so if you interested, just go and check it out here. I just say, that I have mixed feelings about this one, that´s why I gave it ♥♥♥.

Next I finished listening “I heart Hoolywood” by Lindsey Kelk. I have a small review about this one on my Goodreads page, if you want to check it out, you can do it here. I enjoy this series a lot, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth, because of how main character decided to solve her problems. I just say, if it was a man, he would be lynched. That´s why I gave it ♥♥♥. And this rating was very generous. The more I think about this book, the more I lean towards lower rating.

Then I finally read a book, that was on my shelves over 5 years! It was a “Mirksnis” by Malcolm Gladwell. The original title of this book is “Blink” and it´s a nonfiction book about your instincts. At least I think that it is about that. It was a strange and boring read for me and because I finished it in the beginning of the month I already forget a lot about it. And it´s very sad, because I loved another book by this author, so I had a very high hopes for “Blink” too. However I was disappointed and gave it just ♥♥.

After such disappointment I wanted something light and funny to read, so I chose “City of Fallen Angels” by Cassandra Clare. The fourth one in a very long series. I can´t say much about it without spoilers, only that it´s very addictive and I still don´t like Jace, I still think that relationship between Jace and Clary are toxic and I still love all other characters. I gave it ♥♥♥♥.

Because of the ending of a fourth book, I automatically grabbed the fifth one “City of Lost Souls”. What, can I say…I like that “bad” Jace better, you can shoot me now for this. And now I´m hooked. I know that I will read all other books about this world. Even though I know, that they are at times problematic. So, for this one I also gave ♥♥♥♥.

Also in the middle of the month I was contacted by a young author, who kindly asked to read and give my opinion about his book. I gladly accepted it, because I still have to learn to say “No” sometimes. And this one, I´m sorry to say, was awful. I also wrote a review on my Goodreads, you can find it here. I have no idea what this book was about, it´s a first time for me, when I read a book, but it feels like I read it in a foreign language, that I don´t understand. But props for the author, he wrote it when he was only 16, so we can only hope that from now on he will write better and better. Oh! I forget to say the title of this book. It´s “Ubiety” by Grzegorz Kunowski and I gave it ♥.

And finally I read my most daunting book of the month. I didn´t expect to read it so quickly, I thought, that I will read it few months, because it´s so big and in Norwegian, in a language, that I still am not so confident. But I loved it. IT´s “Sirkelen” by Mats Strandberg and Sara E. Elgren. It´s a first book in a trilogy about a group of young witches. And it was amazing, very intriguing and spooky. I´m so sad that I don´t have other books in my possession at this moment and it´s not that easy to find them, because they are out of the print. But I´m thinking of ordering the rest of them from bookdepository.com in English and in different format. It doesn´t matter at this moment, because of how much I want to know what happens next. This book was my favorite of the month. I gave it ♥♥♥♥♥.

How was your reading month? How many books have you read?

Stay healthy!
